Early Life

Thomas Joseph Lavin was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 7, 1976. He started riding bikes when he was only two years old.

T.J. got really into it when he was about 15 years old, and when he was 19, he won his first pro contest.

Besides biking, he also learned to play piano by himself. Later, he made a recording studio in his house.

BMX Career

T.J. Lavin started competing in big bike races like the X Games and Dew Tour. He did really well, winning bronze, silver, and gold medals in the X Games. He’s won lots of other championships too, like the DK Dirt Circuit, Gravity Games, European, and CFB championships. In 1995, he was called the “King of Dirt.”

In 2010, Lavin got hurt bad during a Dew Tour in Las Vegas. He had to go to the hospital and was in a coma. But he got better and went home the next month.

In 2022, T.J. Lavin got into the USA BMX Hall of Fame.

Other Ventures

Lavin used his home studio to make and share an album called “LAVS the First SET.” He also put out a few songs, like “Soldier” in 2008, to honor his friend Stephen Murray, who got hurt in a crash while doing the AST Dew Tour.
