Early Life

Daniel Joseph Ricciardo, born on July 1, 1989, in Perth, Western Australia, to his Italian-Australian parents Grace and Giuseppe “Joe” Ricciardo.

Joe raced at Wanneroo’s Barbagallo Raceway during Daniel’s youth.

Ricciardo and his sister, Michelle, grew up in Perth’s Duncraig suburb in a Catholic household, and Daniel attended the Catholic school Newman College.

He initiated karting with the Tiger Kart Club at the age of 9.

In 2005, he secured eighth place in the Western Australian Formula Ford championship.
